Obsidian Command

Obsidian Command logo

Obsidian Command is the headquarters starbase for the Ninth (Obsidian) Fleet. It's based in the Loki star system, orbiting Loki III, and is a hub of activity for all of the task forces that form this group. Led by station commander Commander Amaya Lance and the fleet's Joint Fleet Command, the base regularly hosts diplomatic conferences, scientific experiments and is the central focus of a huge range of missions.

Out of character, Obsidian Command stands for the values of Obsidian Fleet - friendship, fun, and quality writing within a supportive environment. We're looking for players who are interested in promoting and expanding those values to create a fantastic place where we can all enjoy writing in the Star Trek universe as friends. We will also help write some of the official history and lore of Obsidian Fleet. If you think that's you, submit an application today!

We're looking for all kinds of players and characters - we have a range of Starfleet, Marine, Diplomatic, Civilian and "Other" positions available. If what you'd like to do isn't listed on the Manifest, contact us with details of what you'd like to do and we'll consider your idea.

Join us today - the headquarters (and her garrisoned Rhode Island ship the USS August) awaits your transfer!

» News Regarding Command of OC Going Forward

Posted on 28 Oct 2018 @ 8:07am by Admiral Andreas du Lac in General News

Hi everyone,

As you'll be aware, Paul has resigned as CO of Obsidian Command. The Joint Fleet Command would like to thank him for his work and continuing the legacy of OC.

We've reached a decision about what's going to happen in the future with the sim, as it's existence and operation is central to the Fleet. Effectively immediately, I'll be taking over command of the simulation, with support from Admirals Sharr and Sepandiyar. Now that's the bad news out of the way you can all breathe a sigh of relief ;)

What does this mean going forward for the sim? Well, the sim will essentially be going freeform. We'll be writing in specific event arcs as and when, but we'll be mostly focusing on character development and day-to-day life onboard a starbase. We'll also be encouraging CO's to drop by, so expect to see guest CO's and guest crews appearing from time to time, for example, there's some collaborative work going on with the USS Vesta with regards to the current mission on the base - mostly around the Fleet's efforts to pull us back out of the Void (hint: it involves Merians and a lot of stuff). Likewise, you'll see some more posts coming from various Staff characters on the Fleet Council writing IC, plus as we develop the Fleet Lore IC, Obsidian Command will be heavily involved in that.

I'll also be working with you closely to develop the Lore around Obsidian - it's something of a void at the moment but the best way I can describe it is something akin to Vulcan-meets-Dune; tribal, warm, and after 150 years of UFP presence on the planet it's still getting used to outsiders. According to the book on Obsidian the locals technologically regressed by choice, so it'd be interesting to explore some of that dynamic too.

I'm hoping I can having something announced regarding an Executive/Station Officer soon as we'll likely be trying to replicate the Flag situation aboard a modern-day vessel where the base is directly run by a CO on a day-to-day basis but the Flag Officer has the overall control. It depends on whether it's tempting to the individual I have in mind ...

So, that's the news. For now, feel free to continue the arc on the Void and the character development. You'll likely see a JFC post (or three) coming soon, and hopefully, the Vesta and other crews might be stopping by.

Feel free to contact me on dulac@obsidianfleet.net or via Discord if you have any questions.

Posted on 19 Oct 2018 @ 2:28am by Commander Amaya Lance in Sim Announcement

Hi everyone.

It's with a heavy heart that I have decided to step down as CO of Obsidian Command.

Lately I haven't been in the best of general health, and I have started to find less enjoyment in both writing and leading the sim. That's not really fair for the rest of you, as you deserve better.

I've passed my resignation to the JFC, who will decide what happens next and communicate their decision around what happens next in due course.

Thanks for all your efforts and for the exciting stories we've been able to tell over the last year.

All right folks, here we go on our latest exciting adventure: The Void.

The station has been mysteriously sucked into the Void, an expanse of empty space where power is continuously drained and those trapped inside fight and scavenge for technology and supplies to stay alive. (If you've seen the Voyager episode, it's essentially the same place!)

The station is crippled, much of it severely.

Our characters are scattered with no way to communicate with each other and potentially we're about to get raided by hostile scavengers and pirates...

Have fun!

Welcome aboard to our two new players: Dak, playing Ensign Damien Ward, and Luke, playing Lt Commander Jonathan Russell. Both characters are taking up roles in the Counselling department - there must have been something that made them both want to get into the minds of the reprobates of the station...

Please join me in welcoming them, and be sure to inundate them both with JP starters!

In other news, we're almost at a point of closing out 'The Admiral's Daughter' mission. What will follow is a period of in-between time for freeform activity before we jump into something new.

Thanks for reading

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening folks!

Hope you all had a good rest, enjoyed the downtime, had a wonderful 4th July, etc.

I'm kicking off our new plotline, "The Admiral's Daughter" - a hopefully fun little jaunt taking us off the station and to the planet's surface below in search of some lost lovers...

This is for everyone to get involved with, so if you don't have a directly relevant character I suggest you try and make one! There's plenty of opportunities to do something new, if you're not sure just give me a nudge.

Information on Obsidian the planet can be found here: https://www.obsidianfleet.net/db/obsidian-planet/
Hopefully this can give you some inspiration to do something unique.

As always, thanks for playing!

"Return fire!" Amaya snapped back, gripping tightly to the main console in front of her. "And get me communications!"
